I left it a bit late to think about making my childrens costumes this year but to be honest it's probably just as cheap to buy one. I managed to get my daughter a witch dress complete with hat and tights in matalan. Full price it was £12, but they have a promotion on where all the Halloween stuff is half priced.so for £6 a complete outfit! I also managed to get my eldest son a black full length robe in Birthdays half price at £5 and a 'scream' mask for a pound in discount uk. we are recycling my middle sons costume from last year.
Where i live there are a few 'pound' stores/ discount shops which sell a multitude of cheap accessories, decorations, costumes etc for Halloween. Most things cost £1. you have to have a good look as some of it is cheap tat, but most of it is good value and well worth a pound.
Asda are also selling decent sized pumpkins for £1. In my opinion i don't see the point of paying £££s on something you are cutting up sticking a candle in, then chucking in the bin, i could say use the inside and make pie/ soup or something but i wouldn't honestly do that.
Decent face paints are a must in my house. the cheap stuff is greasy and not very nice to apply but again this is just my personal opinion. Last year I bought a snazaroo Halloween box for £10 a bit pricy for me, but i tried it and loved it. There is still plenty left for this year too. At the moment in ELC they have a couple of snazaroo box sets half priced for £5, they have practically all the colours you need for a spooky look so save yourself a fiver and grab that instead.
